CORVETTE CLUB RUN: Meet-up at McDonalds (11840 Balboa Blvd, Granada Hills, CA 91344), Sat. 8:00AM, Depart at 8:15am. 70 mile drive to Edwards AFB. (1:10hr approx). We will return late afternoon and Maybe stop for dinner? TBD. FREE Admission & Parking to AFB.  Run Leader: Patrick

WHAT TO BRING: N95 Mask (shuttle bus required)! Folding Lawn chairs, FRS Radio (Channel 5). Comfortable walking shoes, Sunscreen, Sunglasses, Hats, Pen for autographs, Refillable Water Bottle (Water stations will be available at no charge), Folding Lawn Chairs (No seating is provided unless VIP tickets have been purchased), Strollers for young children (Will be searched), Camera (There are currently no lens restrictions, bags cannot exceed standard backpack size. 

PROHIBITED ITEMS:  ALL bags will be quickly inspected and all individuals are subject to search prior to entering the airshow flight line. Bag size cannot exceed a standard school backpack or diaper bag. All bags will be searched upon entry. Please only bring what you absolutely need, use common sense. No glass, No ice chests, No alcohol, No illicit Drugs.

EDWARDS AFB AIRSHOW: “Roughly, gates will open around 8:00am with the show ending at 4:00pm .. Show times will be 11:30 am – 3:00 pm. Show time specifics are subject to change.

AFB GATE ACCESS: The base will be open to the general public Saturday, October 15 Sunday, October 16. DIRECTIONS: Access to the base will be allowed through the West (Off SR14 and Rosamond Blvd) or North Gates (Via SR58). *Please note, South Gate WILL NOT be open to the general public. DO NOT arrive at South Gate, you will be turned away. All vehicles and personal items are subject to search.

*Note: All vehicles MUST be on Edwards Air Force Base property by 11:30 a.m. each day. Roads and base access will close at 11:30 a.m.

PARKING: Free general admission and free parking. Follow the marked lanes to the dry lakebed for parking. You will be guided to either the Red, White, or Blue lots. Upon exiting your vehicle, you will make a short walk to the shuttle area. Shuttles will be in constant rotation to take you from the lakebed to the air show flightline. Please note, all patrons on shuttles are REQUIRED to wear a surgical mask or better. If you do not have a mask, one will be handed to you at no charge. Patron’s also have the option to walk the 1 mile route from the lake to the flightline The path will include benches, restrooms, and water stations. Returning to your vehicle will be accomplished by a shuttle ride or a quick 1 mile walk back to the lakebed.

RESTROOMS: Portable restrooms will be available throughout the event grounds and parking lots for your convenience.

SHADE: For General Admission, limited shade may be found under the wings of static display aircraft but is limited. Guests are encouraged to bring sunscreen, hats, sunglasses and portable, small hand-held umbrellas for their comfort. Hangar 1600 can also be utilized for a break from the sun!”

FOOD: Q:  “Can we bring food in?” A:  “No outside food is allowed unless medically necessary. There will be a variety of food vendors on site to purchase food and drinks from. Food vendors will accept cash, card, and contactless payment.” NOTE: There is NO ATM on-site, cash is accepted but strongly discouraged. 

WEATHER: “What will happen if it rains?” A: “Base Operations will be able to forecast if rain is on the way prior to the show. If rain is in the forecast, it may drive a significant capacity limitation or potential cancellation due to Edwards’ unique geographical characteristics.”

ABOUT THE EVENT: 2022 marks the 75th anniversary of the United States Air Force, while October 14, 2022 marks 75 years of breaking the sound barrier over the sky above Edwards. During this weekend, we will pay homage to both legacies with historic aircraft and sonic booms, mixed with the latest in cutting-edge aviation… You never know who will drop in from the desert sky! The Aerospace Valley Air Show is an entirely new event dedicated to showcasing the best of STEM and aviation. Organized by the 412th Test Wing, Edwards Air Force Base, this event will be the first open house for the base in 13 years. The weekend consists of a large STEM Expo with nearly 60 hands-on displays and activities, a large air show headlined by the USAF Thunderbirds Flight Demonstration Team, and several surprises you will have to see to believe! ABOUT THE THUNDERBIRDS: The U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds, performs precision aerial maneuvers demonstrating the capabilities of Air Force high performance aircraft to people throughout the world. The squadron exhibits the professional qualities the Air Force develops in the people who fly, maintain and support these aircraft. The pilots perform approximately 30 maneuvers in a demonstration.
